Community Practice Number Five

I recently joined the gym LA fitness in my town. The guy who signed me up was from Brazil and spoke fluent Spanish. He was telling my friend and me about what it was like there and we got into talking about Spanish foods that he enjoys that are nutritious. He referred me to a great personal trainer who also works for the gym who was fluent in Spanish as well, and trains many clients who are Spanish speaking. He was talking about old clients and brought up an email conversation with a Spanish speaking woman who was getting in shape before she went back to her home country. While reading the email I recall understanding words such as traje de bano, fantastico, y flaco. One word I learned was mejora, I discovered that it meant improvement. I think that this experience was beneficial because it goes to show that the Spanish language really is all around us.
