Community Practice Number Six

For my sixth community practice I went back to the health care center that I did community volunteer work at last year. Last year I met with a Spanish speaking resident at the home. I really enjoyed speaking with him. The first time we met it was really hard to understand him because he did not speak clearly, since he has gotten older it has become significantly harder to understand him which made the visit difficult. I got involved with volunteering here through a friend who runs the rec activities for the residents. Most of what the resident spoke about was his health and family. Fortunately enough I remember a lot of the vocabulary involving family and health. A new word that I learned was respiracion, meaning breathing. I also learned the words silla de ruedas y perro de terapia. I know my visit was beneficial to both myself and the resident. He got to have some company for an hour that he normally wouldn't receive and I got to expand my Spanish knowledge.
