Community Practice #7&8

For my seventh community practice I decided to watch one of the Championship League soccer games in spanish. The two teams that played each other were Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. I did not think that watching the game with spanish announcers would make a big difference, but it turned out that it did. I ended up enjoying the game and the energy that the announcers brought far more than the english speaking announcers even though I could not understand everything that they were saying. The truth is that in native spanish speaking countries soccer is a passion felt by entire countries and not just certain individuals and groups like it is in the United States. When Javier Hernandez scored giving Real Madrid a 1-0 lead the announcers went wild and yelled "GOALASO!" While I learned certain words and phases like "Chicharito tubo un buen partido y hizo el gol para ganar el partido al ultimo minuto;" I mainly learned that I enjoy watching soccer on the spanish channel now because it makes me feel much closer to the culture, fans, and players.
